Lesson 11 — More Stars!
📖Talking About the Show
It's Tuesday morning. Peter, Amy, Alejandro, and Mishiko arrive at school.
"Good morning!" says Mr. Parker. "Did you enjoy the show on Saturday?"
"Yes! I loved it!" says Amy.
"Me too! It was amazing!" says Alejandro.
"Which performer did you like?" asks Mr. Parker.
"I liked Chuky. He was very funny!" says Peter.
"I liked Winnie Poo," says Mishiko. "He fell down many times, but he didn't stop. He was brave."
"Yes! He was resilient," says Mr. Parker. "And what about Chuky? What did you notice?"
"He was clever and made everyone laugh," says Alejandro. "But I think he was lonely."
"Very good observation, Alejandro!" says Mr. Parker. "Chuky performed well, but he felt alone."
"I liked the music and the colors," says Amy. "The costumes were beautiful!"
"I'm glad you enjoyed it," says Mr. Parker. "Are you ready to meet the other two performers?"
"Yes!" say all the students.
"Today, we're going to watch Part 2," says Mr. Parker. "You'll meet Cinderella and Strongman."
"What are they like?" asks Mishiko.
"Cinderella is very elegant and confident. She moves gracefully on stage. She loves being admired," says Mr. Parker.
"Like a princess?" asks Amy.
"Yes, exactly! But she also worries about something," says Mr. Parker.
"What does she worry about?" asks Peter.
"She wonders: Do people see ME, or do they only see my beauty?" says Mr. Parker.
"That's sad," says Mishiko.
"And what about Strongman?" asks Alejandro.
"Strongman is very strong and brave. He's like a hero!" says Mr. Parker.
"Cool!" says Peter.
"But he makes funny mistakes during his performance," says Mr. Parker.
"What kind of mistakes?" asks Amy.
"He forgets his lyrics and his choreography. But he doesn't get angry. He laughs at himself!" says Mr. Parker.
Everyone laughs.
"That sounds like fun!" says Peter.
"Yes! Both performers are very different from Chuky and Winnie Poo," says Mr. Parker. "Let's watch Part 2 now!"
The students sit down, excited to continue the musical.
